Appalachian Kentucky Nonprofits Invited to Join the #GiveAppKY Community Campaign

Share on:

HAZARD, KY, Aug. 31 — Appalachian Kentucky nonprofits are invited to join and co-own the Give Appalachian Kentucky (#GiveAppKY) community campaign, designed to inspire generosity of all forms in the Appalachian Kentucky region on GivingTuesday. #GiveAppKY brings the power of GivingTuesday — which raised $4 billion for nonprofits in the U.S. in 2025 alone — to the Appalachian Kentucky region on and leading up to Dec. 1, 2026. Registration to participate in the campaign is open now and will close on Sep. 30, 2026.

GivingTuesday is a global giving day that promotes and celebrates generosity in all its forms. It inspires millions to give their time, talents, or treasure on the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving. This year, it takes place on Dec. 1, 2026. According to GivingTuesday data, towns with community campaigns consistently engage 85% more donors and raise 90% more in donations (per capita) than those without one.

The goal of the #GiveAppKY community campaign is to help charitable organizations and communities in our region leverage the power of GivingTuesday. A community campaign is a group of people and organizations working together to rally a geographical area around a day of generosity. #GiveAppKY is the first-ever community campaign designed specifically for our region. When nonprofits register to participate, they take ownership of the campaign along with all of the other participating organizations.

“It’s time to bring the power of GivingTuesday to our region, not only to strengthen our nonprofit organizations and support the families and communities they serve, but also to prove what we already know: that we’re one of the most generous regions in the country,” says Brenna Wallhausser, Chief Philanthropy Officer at the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky. “We’re proud to work alongside corporate and nonprofit partners to leverage the success of the GivingTuesday generosity movement and to share the story of all the ways we show up for each other in Appalachian Kentucky.”

To participate, nonprofits should be located in and serve at least one Appalachian Kentucky county, have a secure giving platform or work with the Foundation to find one, and be willing to share their campaign data. After registration closes on Sep. 30, 2026, nonprofits will receive a toolkit with materials to help them with their outreach leading up to GivingTuesday. Each registered nonprofit will be listed on a “Giving Menu” on the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky’s #GiveAppKY landing page with their logo, a brief description of their nonprofit, and any relevant donation information. Donors can visit the landing page on and leading up to GivingTuesday to browse the list of participating nonprofits.

Each registered nonprofit that actively participates in the #GiveAppKY campaign will also receive an equal share of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky’s “Spread the Love” fund, with the potential to receive additional financial benefits from the Foundation’s campaign sponsors.
