Overview
The Thompson Charitable Regranting Program is a community-based grant initiative administered by the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky in partnership with the Thompson Charitable Foundation. The program provides flexible grant funding to nonprofit organizations serving Bell, Clay, Laurel, and Leslie Counties in Kentucky.
In 2026, up to a total of $250,000 will be awarded to support organizations addressing urgent needs while strengthening long-term community resilience.
Funding Priorities
Grants will support nonprofit organizations aligned with the Thompson Charitable Foundation’s mission and priorities, including but not limited to:
- Community and economic development efforts that improve quality of life
- Food pantries and food access programs
- Schools, youth programs, and educational initiatives
- Volunteer fire departments and emergency services
- Domestic violence shelters and prevention programs
- Children’s advocacy centers and child welfare services
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations located in or serving Bell, Clay, Laurel, or Leslie Counties in Kentucky.
Grant Amounts and Timeline
- Total funding available in 2026: $250,000
- Grants will range in size from $5,000 to $25,000. Amounts will vary based on need, scope capacity, and impact.
- Grant application will open on April 15, 2026 and close on May 31, 2026
