Advancing Opportunity in Eastern Kentucky
Each of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky’s strategic initiatives are working daily to help make the Appalachian Kentucky region a better place to live. From reducing imprisonment rates to supporting small business development, our initiatives are making a big impact in our region!

Sycamore Project
The Sycamore Project is a grant-making and organizing initiative focused on reducing imprisonment rates in Central Appalachia by addressing root causes like criminalization of substance use and poverty, economic decline, and lack of community services, and by working with communities to examine the core question of what makes us truly safe.

Invest 606
Invest 606 is dedicated to supporting small business development in Appalachian Kentucky by addressing the significant barriers to accessing capital that many entrepreneurs in the region face. With an unmet capital demand of $70 billion in the region, Invest 606 aims to bridge this gap and empower local entrepreneurs, fostering economic growth and innovation.

Appalachian Impact Fund
The Appalachian Impact Fund’s mission is to advance opportunities in the region that support economic opportunity and build community capacity. They envision a day when Eastern Kentucky is a place of unique thriving local economies that enhance the existing natural and cultural assets of the region and offer economic opportunity for all people, while keeping ownership, assets and wealth rooted in local communities.
