PAINTSVILLE, KY, May 22 — The Johnson County Community Foundation awarded high school student Kendyl Rhealyn Moore with a $10,000 Midway University Scholarship on May 22, 2023. The Paintsville High School awards ceremony was held at the US 23 Country Music Highway Museum. Connie Bayes, Johnson County Community Foundation treasurer, presented Moore with the award.
The Johnson County Midway University scholarship fund was set up by an anonymous donor supporting the educational efforts of students attending Midway University. This scholarship was created to benefit female students from Johnson County, Kentucky in obtaining a post-secondary degree from Midway University. The generous donor’s main desire was to help fill the financial gap for students attending Midway University and prepare them to excel and succeed. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years while attending Midway University, provided that the student maintains a specific GPA.
“This scholarship was made possible by a very generous anonymous donor that held Midway University close at heart,” said Connie Bayes, Johnson County Community Foundation Treasurer. “Through our community foundation, we can help donors leave a legacy to better our community and help fund charitable causes.”
The Johnson County Community Foundation board members include Daffiny Trimble (Chair), Dewey Bocook (Vice-Chair), Connie Bayes (Treasurer), Tammy Barker (Secretary), Danielle Harmon, Jerry Price, Doug Pugh, Pam Trimble, and Chris Slone.
