June 27, 2025 — The Floyd County Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, recently awarded a $6,588 grant to CASA of the Appalachian Mountains to increase their capacity to support vulnerable children in Eastern Kentucky in the court system and in foster care. This funding will help support services CASA provides to ensure the children receive the stability, advocacy, and care they need during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
The grant will also help CASA of the Appalachian Mountains meet the rising demand for their services within the court system. This funding plays a vital role in sustaining their mission to support the growth and retention of a committed volunteer base, enhance the depth and quality of training and support provided, and expand the capacity to advocate for more vulnerable children who need individualized care and guidance.
“We are excited to support CASA of the Appalachian Mountains in their mission to serve vulnerable children,” said Ellen Harris, Chair of the Floyd County Community Foundation. “Grants like this are made possible through the generosity of our community of donors, and we are proud to help fund initiatives that make a meaningful impact.”
Since forming, the Floyd County Community Foundation has awarded over $600,000 in local grants and redeployed national grants to fund projects in Floyd County. The Floyd County Community Foundation’s main focus is to build a substantial endowment fund to ensure future funding is available for charitable causes that benefit Floyd County.
