PAINTSVILLE, KY, May 14, 2025 — The Johnson County Community Foundation (JoCCF), an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, awarded a $3,500 grant to the Kiwanis Club of Paintsville to support the preservation of the Paintsville Kiwanis Fishing Pier, located at Paintsville Lake State Park. The board presented this check to the Kiwanis Club on May 14, 2025.
Built in 1988, the Paintsville Kiwanis Fishing Pier has long been a beloved spot for the Johnson County community, offering a space for outdoor recreation, youth programs, and family activities. However, after decades of enjoyment, the pier now requires renovations to ensure that it stays safe and accessible. Replacing the decking and railings is estimated to cost $7,000. The $3,500 grant from the Johnson County Community Foundation will play a crucial role in keeping this cherished community resource open to the community.
