Letcher County Community Foundation Hosts Second Annual Summer Solstice Sunset 5K

Share on:

Whitesburg, KY, June 21 — The Letcher County Community Foundation hosted their second annual Summer Solstice Sunset 5K & Walk on Saturday, June 21, 2025. The event took place at the scenic James Wiley Memorial River Park. They had a fantastic turnout, with participants of all ages coming from various communities to take part, including many out-of-state participants.

Timed to coincide with the longest day of the year, the Summer Solstice Sunset event brought together community members and visitors to celebrate health, wellness, and the spirit of summer. The vibrant atmosphere, paired with a beautiful summer sunset, made for a memorable evening of fun and fitness for all.

The Letcher County Community Foundation extends a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, volunteered, and supported this growing annual tradition. The event would not be possible without the generosity of its sponsors: Double Kwik, Frito Lay, NC Bailey, Bodies by Brandy, Hills and Hollers Lawn Care, Jason Hogg Contracting, Mrs. Freshleys, Coca Cola Consolidated, Keurig/Dr Pepper, Hatton & Watts Law Offices, PSC, and Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky.
