The Upper Cumberland Community Foundation (UCCF), an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, has established and is accepting donations for the Appalachian Tornado Relief Fund. The fund is designed to provide flexible support to those affected by the May 16, 2025, tornadoes that struck Eastern Kentucky. Donations to the Appalachian Tornado Relief Fund will be used to support survivors as they recover from the disaster.
The Upper Cumberland Community Foundation’s umbrella organization, the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, is no stranger to disaster relief work. With years of experience supporting communities through a pandemic, floods, and tornadoes, they understand that local people know local needs best. Because the Upper Cumberland Community Foundation is rooted in the area, the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky has empowered them to take the lead on assessing local needs as they begin to develop a plan for supporting those who have been affected.
“This relief fund is guided by the hands and hearts of those who live closest to the devastation. Managed by a trusted, accredited community foundation, every dollar is distributed with full transparency and deep care,” says Jacob Roan, Co-Chair of the Upper Cumberland Community Foundation, “Your gift will bring help where it’s needed most—with compassion, integrity, and impact.”
At this time, the Upper Cumberland Community Foundation is accepting donations to the Appalachian Tornado Relief Fund while spending time supporting their communities. They prioritize stewarding funds entrusted to them well, and will be active on their Facebook page sharing updates on this disaster relief work.
