Breathitt County Community Foundation Accepting Donations for Flood Relief

Share on:

The Breathitt County Community Foundation (BCCF), an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky, is now accepting donations for emergency flood relief efforts in Breathitt County. In the aftermath of the devastating Feb. 2025 flood, the Breathitt community is in desperate need of relief. All donations made to BCCF between Feb. 20 – Apr. 30 will be designated for immediate needs for flood recovery efforts.

“It is so heartbreaking to see our region hit by flooding yet again, especially those who were also impacted in 2021 and 2022. In the face of this disaster, we are reminded that our region is home to the most selfless, resilient people that will always help their neighbors in times of hardship,” says Zack Hall, Community Engagement Officer. “The Breathitt County Community Foundation was recently formed by a group of individuals with a call to serve their community. BCCF is here during this disaster and will be here for our neighbors in the future. If you are looking for an avenue to provide immediate assistance to provide for critical needs, please consider donating to the Breathitt County Community Foundation. We will get through this disaster like we have in the past, because we have each other.”

The impact of the flood on Appalachian Kentucky is heartbreaking. Fourteen deaths have now been reported. Small businesses, farms, homes, downtowns, and more have sustained significant damage. BCCF is committed to rebuilding and restoring the Breathitt County community, but the community foundation relies on support from donors. Donations made to BCCF will be maximized to provide the best possible support for local flood victims.

The Breathitt County Community Foundation is an affiliate of the Foundation for Appalachian Kentucky. Their mission is to serve the vulnerable population of Breathitt County and support local organizations to improve the community through philanthropy. BCCF is made up of local people with a vision for building a stronger community, providing economic opportunities, leveraging resources, building capacity, and supporting local interests and charitable causes.

Tax-deductible donations to support flood relief efforts through BCCF can be made online at http://bit.ly/BreathittCCF. Checks can be mailed to the Breathitt County Community Foundation at PO Box 461, Jackson, KY, 41339.
